I am currently studying for a BA (HONS) in Fashion Business and Promotion at Birmingham City University and recently completed my dissertation and final major project, in which ii explored cosmetic ingredients and how consumers don’t look and understand their labels. Throughout the course  which sparked an interest for this particular role. My career aspirations are to succeed in the fashion industry and to work within the social media, marketing and digital design industry. I have interned with the social media team at Claires Accessories HQ and  had work experience working as a photographer and a visual merchandiser.

Social Media Intern at Claires Accessories HQ 2015. Maintaining and updating Claires’s an Icings social media platforms, along with posting posts to the blog. I also sorted through the sample room and got to take photographs of the products for content for the sites and competitions. I was also lucky enough to attend a Vamps concert where my roles where to interview and photograph them along with snap-chatting the event. Towards the end of the internship I was maintaining Icings social media pages on my own as my rain role along with constantly creating creative content to keep the consumers engaged. Assistant
 
Photographer: Time Lock Photography 2012. Assisting fashion shoots, weddings, school photographs and various commercial work. Styled and photographed model portfolios. This experience was very helpful whilst doing my A levels as I got to experience working as a photographer professionally. Topshop
 
Visual Merchandiser: Birmingham, The Bullring 2013. Selecting outfits for the mannequins, walls and the fixtures and styling the shelving displays. Sourcing ideas, working with the seasonal sale marking down items and keeping the sale area tidy. Preparing the products, choosing graphics, posters and lighting to make the item desirable and also building Colour stories.
Wacky Warehouse: Party Planner 2012: My role was to plan and carry out children’s parties. It involved a lot of organisation, finances, creativity and ensuring the party was fun for all the children and parents. I learned how to work under pressure, how to manage my time efficiently and ensuring all end of day procedures were followed.
 
Customer Assistant for F&F & Personal Shopper for Tesco’s (Dotcom) 2012:I got to trial ideas and do lots of visual merchandising, advising and sorting which I thoroughly enjoy. I gained lots of confidence whilst working for this big company and have been lucky enough to work within many departments at the store, gaining a general knowledge about how the different roles are carried out. I have also attended lots of meetings and really enjoy the business side to my role, as all members of the team come together to generate new ideas for the company.
Doddle Parcels March 2015 – March 2015 (1 month)Birmingham, United Kingdom. Working in store to understand how the company works and what it is they do. Was shown how to send, return and collect parcels through the system and where it is they all go. Pitching doddle at university to students to get as many people to sign up, managing to get 200 sign ups plus. In addition to pitching to a lecture of first year students on the Fashion Business and promotion course at Birmingham City University.Promoting Doddle via social media to promote their brand in order to get recognized and sign people up.
Cleaner at Pershore High School 2011-2012. During my time at Pershore Sixth Form I worked as a cleaner doing two hours of cleaning per day after my studying. This enabled me to fit earning money around studying for my future which was a great balance

 

BA (HONS) Fashion Business & Promotion Through this course so far I have gained skills in communicating through presentations, written reports, extensive research files, a dissertation and a final major project. The course has enabled me to express my creative thoughts and put them into business plans demonstrating how my ideas work.
-Dissertation - An eight thousand word detailed report analysing current cosmetic ingredients and labelling being used within the beauty industry focusing on the market and consumer behaviour.
-Final Major project- Creating the concept ‘Pura’, a revolutionary beauty website which enables consumers to gain a deeper insight into the world of cosmetic ingredients through the use of social interaction, whilst providing a collection of 10 skincare items.
-Buying and merchandising- developing a range for a high street retailer taking into account catwalk trends and their consumer, colour pallets, sourcing and sizing.
-Marketing- understanding the marketing is to then develop an idea to improve a retailer using social media.
-Visual merchandising- designing a window concept for a retailer using CAD, taking into Consideration catwalk trends, a theme, the consumer and the brand.
 
-Trend forecasting- for A/W 2017 using trends that I predicted and developed, I designed and created a range of beauty products using Photoshop and InDesign.
-Event Management- Working in a group of 10, Raising money, researching venues, contacting suppliers, negotiating prices and booking venues, equipment and also supplies. Lots of organization and planning ensuring that health, safety and insurance regulations are followed.
