Project | 01 Final Major Project. 
My final major project consisted of creating a concept of my choice based on things i have learned throughout university, along with what motivates me. I came up with the concept Pura. Pura is evolutionary beauty webste which enables consumers to gain a deeper insight into the world of cosmetic ingredients through the use of social interaction, whilst providing a collection of 10 skincare items.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY - Pura is a revolutionary beauty webste which enables consumers to gain a deeper insight into the world of cosmetic ingredients through the use of social interaction, whilst providing a collection of 10 skincare items. This plan explains the market Pura shall be entering into, along with a description of the company’s values and strategies. The financial plan provided in this Business Plan give a clear view of financial sales and profit forecasts. The plan will show how Pura will reach profitability in the first year of operation and how the next 2 years look for the company.  Pura offers a ‘one of a kind’ blog which is based on giving a clean and easy service to the conscious consumer.  The site is powered by the company themselves along with consumers who sign up to the blog sharing information or simply by just searching. The site will launch in April 2016 and is aimed at the 22-50+ year old market, providing them with reliable and honest information.  Pura collectively refines searches making reports and reviews easy to find and uses aesthetically pleasing formats and imagery - clinical and minimal; along with their own range of skincare featuring 10 products. Pura’s own posts are clean, sharp and simple. Ingredient labels are broken down and explained, cutting out scientific words that confuse the public. Those who have signed up for an account are free to blog and post using the same format and style, enabling the site to grow and for more information to be generated. The site also features collaborations with beauty bloggers and has a section on the blog where consumers read their articles, offering another professional yet personal opinion. The aim of the business is to build a strong bond with the consumer. Through being transparent, honest and clear the consumer will feel at ease when browsing the site or when purchasing the brands own range of skincare. It is expected the business will become profitable within the first 6 months of trading due to the product’s standards, desirability and the fact the company is filling a gap in the market. However, it will take some time to build the trust and reputation up, working towards the long term bond between the business and consumer.

 

Project | 02 Trend Forecasting

Trend forecasting- for A/W 2017 using trends that I predicted and developed, I designed and created a range of beauty products using Photoshop and Indesign. Synopsis of the project: Welcome to the artificial future where technology rules the worlds existence beyond human control. We have now entered a new kind of technological era with the capacity to threaten our future, ones that we have no track record of surviving. Synthetic biology meets engineering which promises great medical benefits, but is affecting the boundaries of human biology. Machines are manipulating the real world and there are fears about how artificial or machine intelligence interact with the external world. Love is nature and can’t be  explained in mechanical ways, so machines are being created to understand humans on an emotional level. People are constantly trying to impress others and are always busy on their devices and thinking about what others are doing, it has become impossible to escape the things life has to offer.  Society has become more artificial taking the people and their experiences with it. People have also reached a point where they all think they are different from nature and have completely disconnected with the mountains, rivers, oceans and forests, things have become synthetic and we don’t depend on nature to live, however, mentally and physically our well-being is deteriorating.

Project | 04 Dissertation 

ABSTRACT - Today’s consumers thrive off the beauty industry due to the wide range of products and skincare available to them at all prices. They crave the latest products that promise them the best outcome; a fresher more youthful look. With trends and new innovations available from the web and other digital devices, it is now possible to observe content of interest and hear about new brands. With the industry working close alongside the fashion industry it enables brands to keep up to date with future trends, making the beauty industry not only for health and well-being, but also fun and creative.  

The beauty industry paves the way in which both men and women are made to feel via the narrow ideal in which everyone should conform to so that they can appear to be the best they can be.  However, by doing so many consumers take costly, unnatural and unhealthy measures in an attempt to achieve their idea of perfection.
The way that consumers look at food labels to see what it is made up of, should be the same way they look at their beauty products labels, but this isn’t the case even though there could be thousands of chemicals in the products they use. 

For my dissertation i wrote an  eight thousand word detailed report analysing current cosmetic ingredients and labelling being used within the beauty industry focusing on the market and consumer behaviour. The topic i chosen was  something i i'm very passionate about and i felt it shon through into the work i produced.
